Voting Section Cases

On April 18, 2024, in Vote.org v. Georgia State Election Board (N.D. Ga.), the Department filed a statement of interest concerning the Civil Rights Act. 

On April 11, 2024, in Republican National Committee v. Wetzel (S.D. Miss), the Department filed a statement of interest regarding the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.

On March 14, 2024, in Singleton v. Allen (N.D. Ala.), Milligan v. Allen (N.D. Ala.), and Caster v. Allen (N.D. Ala.) the Department filed a statement of interest regarding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The Department had previously filed a statement of interest in these cases on July 28, 2023.

On February 27, 2024, in International Alliance of Theater Stage Employees v. Mashburn (N.D. Ga.), the Department filed a statement of interest regarding Section 202 of the Voting Rights Act.

On January 17, 2024, in Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska v. Thurston County (D. Neb.), the Department filed a statement of interest regarding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

On December 7, 2023, in Nairne v. Ardoin (M.D. La.), the Department filed notice of its intent to intervene in the action and a brief on the constitutionality of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. 

On November 3, 2023, in Alpha Phi Alpha v. Raffesnsberger (N.D. Ga.), the Department filed notice of its intent to intervene in the action and a brief on the constitutionality of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

On September 22, 2023, in Chandler v. Allen (N.D. Ala.), the Department filed a statement of interest regarding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

On September 11, 2023, in Splonskowski v. White (D. N.D), the Department filed a statement of interest regarding the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.

On July 28, 2023, in Singleton v. Allen (N.D. Ala.), Milligan v. Allen (N.D. Ala.), and Caster v. Allen (N.D. Ala.) the Department filed a statement of interest regarding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

On July 12, 2023, in NAACP v. Reeves (S.D. Miss.), the Department filed a motion to intervene under Section 902 of the Civil Rights Act, along with a proposed complaint under the Equal Protection Clause.  On December 5, 2023, the Department filed a statement of interest supporting the plaintiffs' request for a preliminary injunction.

On July 10, 2023, in Vote.org v. Byrd (N.D. Fla.), the Department filed a statement of interest concerning the Civil Rights Act.
