On August 13, 2021 and September 13, 2021, the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force released updated Agency Model Safety Principles for agencies to apply in the federal workplace, incorporating current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Effective immediately, visitors (other than Department employees and on-site contractors) entering Department buildings or facilities must:
- Acknowledge via a self-screening health questionnaire that they assessed their health for possible symptoms of COVID-19 on the day of the visit; and
- Complete a Certification of Vaccination form attesting that they are fully vaccinated -- or else present a negative COVID-19 test result from an approved test taken in the three days prior to entry.
- EXCEPTION: Certification of Vaccination forms and negative COVID-19 test results are not required for visitors entering Department buildings or facilities to obtain a public service or benefit, as determined by the Department component sponsoring the visit.
Visitors should use the self-screening health questionnaire to determine whether they should reschedule the visit and remain out the Department building or facility in accordance with CDC guidelines. The Certification of Vaccination form and negative test result (if required) will be reviewed – but not collected -- by the Department employee designated to meet the visitor at the point of entry and assist them with compliance with this policy. Visitors who are fully vaccinated must comply with Department guidance and signage for fully vaccinated individuals when they are in any Department facility, including wearing a mask in areas of substantial or high COVID-19 transmission. All other visitors must comply with CDC and Department guidance and signage for unvaccinated individuals. Visitors should coordinate well ahead of their scheduled visit with the employee designated to assist them.
