Justin Smith
Justin Smith is the Chief of the Law and Policy Section. He joined DOJ in 1998, and was previously a trial attorney and an Assistant Section Chief in the Law and Policy Section. While at the Law and Policy Section he has handled numerous cases as amicus curiae and handled a range of legislative, regulatory and policy matters. Before joining DOJ, he clerked for the Honorable Patricia Wald of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the Honorable Louis Pollak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and worked in private practice at Covington & Burling. Mr. Smith is an alumnus of Harvard Law School.
