I - Notice of Language Assistance Services
Within six months of adopting the revised Plan, EOIR will develop a communications plan to inform the public about the language assistance services funded by EOIR that are available to people with LEP. The communications plan will include essential information such as the availability of language assistance services in print and electronic materials, as well as outreach and educational resources. EOIR will provide information in English and in other languages using, for example, websites, translated documents, and community-focused outreach. EOIR will strive to meet at least once a year with external stakeholders to discuss language access issues. Additionally, EOIR will clearly post its language access policies on its website.
If a person has a language access concern or complaint as it relates to an EOIR component, then that person should communicate that concern or complaint to EOIR’s language access inbox, which will be created and posted on EOIR’s external website. Further, EOIR will train employees to direct such communications from members of the public to the appropriate component CLAC or to the language access inbox.
