THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION. PART-TIME HOURS WILL NOT EXCEED 20 HOURS PER WEEK OR 40 HOURS BI-WEEKLY.
The United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Ohio, is interviewing for an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) with experience in the area of credits rights. The position will be located in Civil Division, Financial Litigation Program, of the Cleveland office. AUSAs in the Financial Litigation Program are responsible for collecting debts due to the United States and restitution owed to victims of crime. The position requires coordination with the Criminal Division, Clerks Office, Probation Department, as well as other USAOs and DOJ components. AUSAs assigned to the Financial Litigation Program pursue restitution owed to both private victims of crime and the United States as required by the Mandatory Victim Restitution Act of 1996.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least three (3) years of post-J.D. experience in civil law.
United States citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have strong academic credentials, superior legal research and writing skills, quick analytical ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical case-related issues, courtroom experience, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with client agencies, support staff and other attorneys, and a demonstrated commitment to public service.
Applicants should possess excellent computer skills. Experience with automated research, electronic court filing, and various word-processing systems, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, is required.
