Interview Information
Honors Program interviews will be conducted via virtual platforms this year. Candidates should follow scheduling instructions from the Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management (OARM). OARM will notify candidates of their interview day and time. The USAO, Southern District of Texas will provide supplemental instructions including the interview link .
Pre-Interview Submissions
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas requests a resume and writing sample.
- Submission Deadline: As soon as possible but not later than five (5) business days after notification of selection for an interview.
- Format: Adobe Acrobat PDF
- Type of Writing Sample: The writing sample, not to exceed 15 pages, should an original piece of legal writing or analysis that has not been extensively edited by a third party (e.g., not a heavily-edited law review article or a judicial opinion). An excerpt from a longer piece is acceptable – just include a brief explanation. If written in conjunction with others, clearly identify those portions you authored. We recommend that the sample be from a brief, memo, draft opinion, or some legal document rather than a law-review or other scholarly article.
- Submission Method: Submit all documents as attachments in ONE email message to doriane.lewis@usdoj.gov. The email subject line should reflect: "Honors Program Submissions" and include the candidate's name. For example, the subject line for documents submitted by J.Q. Candidate should read: "Honors Program Submissions - J.Q. Candidate." Please standardize the name of your submissions as follows: Last Name, First Name - Resume; Last Name, First Name - Writing Sample
Special Instructions: Ensure your writing sample lists your name either on a cover sheet with the explanation or in the top, right hand corner.
