Health care fraud is a crime that impacts every American. It siphons off hard-earned tax dollars meant to provide care for the vulnerable and disabled. When health care providers and executives place greed above patients’ needs, it increases the cost of care for all Americans. Even worse, as the prosecutions announced on Thursday highlight, health care fraud can harm patients and fuel addiction.

On June 29, the ICITAP-Bangladesh mission provided an update on the impact of its Human Rights assistance efforts in Bangladesh.

From June 17 to 21, ICITAP conducted a five-day workshop on i2 Analyst’s Notebook, attended by seventeen (17) criminal investigators, intelligence officers, bank officers, and analysts from the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). 

May's cases include violations involving pesticide shipments and smuggling, reptile sales, dog fighting, seafood mislabeling, wildlife trafficking, handbag sales, emissions fraud, boat sinking, wastewater discharge, animal crush videos, and more.

The United States Department of Justice, United States Department of State, and Europol convened the thirteenth meeting of the Law Enforcement Coordination Group (LECG) on countering Hizballah’s terrorist and illicit activities on June 6-7.

On June 11, the ICITAP-Mexico mission provided an update on its impact on the criminal justice system in Baja California Sur. In 2022, the state of Baja California Sur acquired high-tech equipment for its forensic chemistry laboratory for the detection of street and pharmaceutical drugs in biological samples.

On June 3, two female executive officers from the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) provided a workshop on Wellness and Mental Health during Conflict at the 2024 International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
