Thank you, Justice Henderson, for that warm introduction, and deep gratitude to the Alaska Supreme Court and Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) for hosting this impactful event. Congratulations on the launch of the Community Justice Worker Resource Center.

Julie, thank you for your friendship. I want to thank you for inviting me to speak today. Like all of you, I have long admired Julie’s tireless and powerful leadership of the Alaska Federation of Natives. She is a force of nature! I am grateful to you and the entire AFN team for putting together this gathering. I am also always honored to follow in Secretary Haaland’s footsteps. She is a deep inspiration to all of us and has been leading the charge to make sure that we do all that we can to support Tribal justice.

Good morning everybody. In just a few minutes, United States Attorney Coody and I will meet with the officers gathered around this table. I am grateful to each of them for being here today.

Thank you, Attorney General Garland. I am proud to join you and U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg for the Middle District of Florida today to mark this significant and unprecedented achievement in the Justice Department’s Combating Redlining Initiative.

When I first learned about this event, a retrospective of a nearly 20-year-old cartel investigation seemed like a slightly odd subject. But then it occurred to me that this event offers an opportunity — not just to look back, but to think about how much enforcement has evolved and what’s on the horizon. Of course, over the decades we’ve kept the same core principles at the heart of our work: individual accountability, encouraging self-reporting and good corporate citizenship and, fundamentally, promoting competition and open markets. But while those principles have stayed the same, it’s not an exaggeration — though maybe it’s a cliché — to say almost everything else has changed.

Good morning. My name is Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. I am joined by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, who serves here in the District of New Jersey.

Thank you, President Letteney, for your leadership. Thank you to my friends at International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) for putting this important discussion together. Thank you to the law enforcement leaders coming up on stage, for your work and for sharing your experiences leading through crisis. And of course, I want to recognize our COPS Office Director Hugh Clements, for your leadership supporting law enforcement agencies across the country.

Thank you for the kind introduction. It’s an honor to be with you all, and I am grateful for this opportunity to discuss the important work the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division is doing day in and day out to combat white-collar crime both at home and internationally.

I’m in charge of the National Security Division at the Department of Justice. We are responsible for investigating and prosecuting terrorists, spies and the wide range of threats posed by our most capable and dangerous nation-state adversaries.

I want to thank our government counterparts and our law enforcement counterparts for welcoming us to Mexico City.
