Attorney General Officer Safety Initiative

Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier sat beside Attorney General Eric Holder at the meeting of law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C., taking away ideas to help promote officer safety within her jurisdiction. "Together, I am convinced that we can reduce violent crime and reverse the officer fatality trend that we saw in 2010 and earlier this year."

Attorney General Eric Holder launched a law enforcement officer safety initiative directing every U.S. Attorney to meet with federal, state and local law enforcement officials in their districts to ensure the departmentÂs resources are made available to help stem officer deaths. In addition, Attorney General Holder convened a meeting of law enforcement officers in Washington, D.C., to solicit input for further action to improve officer safety.
