Justice Department Employees Invited to Attend Investiture of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson

Department of Justice leadership received some of the longest serving members within the Department in the Attorney General’s conference room. Carolyn Bell-Harbin has worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan for 40 years. “I am so pleased to be able to attend the investiture of Justice Jackson...I’m thrilled for the nation, because this is something that’s long overdue.”

Barbara Russell has been a Security Specialist for Emergency and Planning within the Department for 62 years. “[It’s] something that, when I was young, thought probably would never happen. And it’s very historic and it’s great.”

William Wiggins has served as a Legal Assistant for Federal Programs within the Department for 58 years. “It’s exciting because I thought I’d never see this in my lifetime...to have a black supreme court justice, it’s very amazing to me.”

Theresa J. Watson-Walker has worked as Office Manager for the Office of the Attorney General for 35 years. “Seeing such a historic moment, the first Black woman, not just Black but African-American [as] the first female in a position as a Supreme Court Justice, that’s an exciting time.”
