The United States Attorney’s Office expresses its deepest sympathies for those affected by the shootings in San Bernardino. We will pray for and offer every level of support to anyone affected by this callous attack on innocent victims.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office also compliments the exemplary work under extremely difficult circumstances that the nation saw from the San Bernardino Police Department, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and every single law enforcement officer who has worked on this matter.
Everyone in the U.S. Attorney’s Office – and everyone across the Department of Justice – is bringing their expertise to bear in this investigation. A team of AUSAs from the Riverside office and the National Security Division have been in San Bernardino lending their support to federal and local law enforcement since soon after the shootings took place.
Following the chase and deaths of the attackers, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has put its focus on helping our law enforcement partners to develop leads and coordinate intelligence. Those efforts continue around the clock, seven days a week.
This terrorist attack is a horrific tragedy that has deeply impacted San Bernardino County residents and employees, the Inland Empire, the Central District of California, and the United States. We are committed to pursuing this investigation to the end. We will identify everyone who may have been involved, and if anyone else is criminally culpable, we will bring them to justice.
