Below is a list of defendants charged in federal court in the District of Columbia related to crimes committed at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. 

Every case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Following arrests, or surrender, defendants must appear before district court magistrate/judge where the arrest takes place, in accordance with the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.

Charged via superseding indictment on 2/19/21 and was arraigned on 3/11/21 where he pleaded not guilty to counts 1-4 and 6.

The defendant remains on PR/HISP.

Plea hearing held 6/23 where the defendant pleaded guilty to counts 1 and 2 of the fourth superseding indictment.

Semtenced 12/20/21 to 10 days of intermittent confinement, 24 months probation, including 100 hours of community service, $500 restitution.

Wilson was arrested on 4/15/21 and had his initial appearance 4/22/21.

Arraigned 5/26/21. Defendant entered a plea of not guilty as to all counts. 

Pleaded guilty 9/7/21

Sentenced 3/4/22 to 51 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, $2,000 restitution.

1:21-cr-618 WILLIAMS, Riley June

Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds

PENNSYLVANIA, Harrisburg

Arrested 1/18/21. Initial appearance held 1/25/21.

Indicted 10/6/21.

Found guilty by jury on 11/21/22 of interfering with law enforcement officers during a civil disorder, and resisting or impeding law enforcement officers, both felonies, as well as four related misdemeanor offenses: entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on two other charges, including obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting in the theft of government property.

Sentenced 9/16/22 to 60 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised release, $5,000 fine, $2,000 restitution.

Pleaded guilty 5/2/22.

Sentenced 7/12/22 to 36 months’ probation, $2,000 fine, $500 restitution,  60 hours community service.

Sturgeon was arrested at JFK airport in New York on 3/6/21. He made his initial appearance on 3/15.

Arraigned on 5/5 and pleaded not guilty to counts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 of the indictment. Status conference set for 8/5/21 at 10 am.

California, Central District

Arrested 1/18/21. Indicted 2/5/21.

Arraigned  2/25/21 and pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Found guilty by jury on 9/27/22 of five charges. Strand was found guilty of the felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding, as well as misdemeanor offenses of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.
