"This summer I worked with a number of attorneys on a variety of projects. On the civil side, I drafted briefs, wrote discovery requests, deposed a witness and conducted debtor exams. On the criminal side, I appeared before two district court judges and presented the Government’s argument in three sentencing hearings. I enjoyed the fun and engaging office culture while challenging both my legal skills and my personal comfort zone (court appearances = nerve wracking!). I appreciated the opportunity to accomplish something substantive. And I felt that, because externs at the US Attorney’s Office are treated as valued team members, I was truly able to contribute and be helpful to the attorneys I worked with. This was the first job I have ever been sad to leave."
