Big Buddy’s Day of Mentor 2014

On October 14, 2014, USAO-MDLA participated in Big Buddy’s 16th Annual Day of the Mentor. Day of the Mentor was established in 1998 to bring awareness to the service of mentoring and to motivate members of our community to get involved and make a difference in the life of a child.

The day began with a breakfast at the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators before departing to the Russell B. Long Federal Courthouse. The mentees toured the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a courtroom and the United States Marshal’s Service. During their visit, the children learned about the roles and day-to-day activities of the U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States Marshal’s Service, and the Courthouse Security Officers.

The day concluded with a luncheon shared by the mentors and mentees before saying goodbye.
