Health Care Fraud Symposium
The Mountaineer Health Care Fraud Symposium will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the West Virginia University College of Law in Morgantown, West Virginia. It is intended to educate members of the legal community about health care fraud.
Panel discussions with members of the public and private sector will explore the different methods of identifying, reporting, and combatting health care fraud. Assistant United States Attorneys from the Northern District of West Virginia will explain the statutory mechanics of filing a Qui Tam complaint pursuant to the False Claims Act, 31 USC §§ 3279-3733. This presentation will address the rights “Whistleblowers” have under the False Claims Act and the mandatory procedures that must be followed when pursuing such a Complaint in West Virginia. Lastly, examples of civil and criminal health care fraud proceedings will be illustrated through separate case studies.
