Albuquerque Police Department Community Engagement

January 12, 2016

USA Damon Martinez was the featured speaker at the Jan. 12, 2016 monthly meeting of the Community Policing Council (CPC) for APD’s Northeast Area Command. Under the City’s court approved settlement agreement and as part of APD’s reform efforts, APD has established CPCs for each of its six Area Commands to facilitate regular communication and cooperation between APD and community leaders at the local level. CPCs must include representation from a cross-section of community members and APD officers including representatives of social service providers and diverse communities; leaders in faith, business and academic communities; and youth. In addition to providing an update on the implementation of reforms at APD, USA Martinez discussed the USAO’s HOPE and “worst of worst” initiatives and provided a general overview of New Mexico’s national security concerns to approximately 70 attendees. EAUSA Elizabeth Martinez and Media/Outreach Assistant Alyssa Ferda joined the USA for this event.
