A moving tribute to the deceased members of the Rhode Island State Police at today’s 27th Annual Rhode Island State Police Memorial Service. The names of each member of the Rhode Island State Police lost in the line of duty or who passed away in the past 12 months was read aloud as members of law enforcement stood at attention and saluted. A rifle salute, a moving rendition of Taps, and the playing of bagpipes followed.

Providence Police Department photo The United States Attorney’s Office was honored to be invited to attend the Providence Police Department Peace Officers’ Memorial Service and Wreath-Laying Ceremony. The event is held annually during National Police Week to honor the memory of the fallen officers of the Providence Police Department who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to honor retired and active members of the department who passed away during the past year.
