Environmental Justice and Enforcement

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa vigorously enforces the nation’s environmental laws to address environmental, health, and climate impacts on individuals and communities within the district. The United States Department of Justice has prioritized enforcement of environmental laws in communities that have been underserved and overburdened. https://www.justice.gov/oej

The United States Department of Justice enforces federal civil and criminal environmental laws including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, toxic and hazardous material laws, and worker safety laws.  The DOJ also enforces federal wildlife and animal welfare laws.  More information about these laws and regulations can be found at the following websites:
