LOUISVILLE, KY – A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment yesterday charging a local man, Joshua Snodgrass, 27, with conspiring with others to traffic in fentanyl. According to court documents, beginning in March of 2021 and continuing through February of 2022, Snodgrass conspired with others to attempt to possess, with the intent to distribute, more than four hundred grams of fentanyl. Snodgrass will soon be scheduled for his initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. U. S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky, and U. S. Postal Inspector in Charge Lesley Allison made the announcement. The U. S. Postal Inspection Service is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alicia P. Gomez is prosecuting the case. An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. ###
