Employee Information regarding the partial Government shutdown and subsequent furlough and pay issues.

Updated January 17, 2019

As you are aware, under normal circumstances, employees would receive their Pay Period (PP) 26 paychecks this coming weekend.  However, with no appropriations in place, it has become highly likely that nearly our entire workforce, whether excepted or non-excepted, will not receive their paychecks.  We recognize the financial hardship that this will cause for our employees and their families, and we want to ensure that we do whatever is permissible to mitigate the impact of actions outside of their control.

To that end, we have assembled the following information for you that may help answer questions you may have.  As the shutdown evolves, we will update this guidance and post revised versions on this web page.

We hope that a funding agreement can quickly be reached to restore normal operations.  Once restored, we will appropriately prioritize getting our employees and vendors paid as quickly as possible and as permitted by law.

Information regarding 2018 W-2s

The National Finance Center (NFC) is in the process of printing and mailing tax year 2018 W-2s. The mailing process will continue through Thursday, January 31, 2019. Of the approximately 705,000 W-2s to be issued, all but about 9,000 are expected to be available on the Employee Personal Page (EPP) and the Reporting Center as early as Friday, January 25, 2019, and no later than Monday, January 28, 2019.

If an employee’s W-2 is not on EPP or the Reporting Center, the W-2 is among the 9,000 in suspense and requires manual intervention by NFC. As the W-2s are released from suspense, they will be mailed and updated to EPP and the Reporting Center. This process will continue between now and Thursday, January 31, 2019. NFC requests that Agencies do not contact NFC about W-2s not available on EPP or the Reporting Center until Monday, February 4, 2019, or later.

If you do not receive a W-2 by February 4th please let us know. If we are still shutdown, please send an email addressed to Britni, Raphael and myself. If we are all back to work, just stop by HR.
