BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Pamela Amaka Mmakogu, 30, a citizen of Nigeria, pleaded guilty to misuse of a passport in an attempt to gain entry into the United States before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The defendant was also sentenced to time served (six months) in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie P. Grisanti, who handled the case, stated that on September 6, 2014, Mmakogu, a passenger on a bus at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry, presented a Canadian passport that belonged to another person.

The plea and sentencing are the result of an investigation by United States Customs and Border Protection, under the direction of Rose Hilmey, Acting Director of Field Operations.
