ROANOKE, VIRGINIA – United States Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy, Hon. Philip Trompeter and Nancy Hans of the Prevention Council of Roanoke County announced today the receipt of Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grants (SPF_SIG’s) by communities in Southwest Virginia.
These funds, which are awarded up to $150,000 each year for three years, will keep the Western District’s most inexperienced drivers safe by preventing alcohol related motor vehicle crashes among drivers 15-24 years of age.
“It is exciting to see how committed and successful our local non-profit partners in the Western District are in building successful community coalitions that prevent young drivers from alcohol-related incidents,” United States Attorney Heaphy said today. “I am proud to highlight the success of these coalitions in serving our communities.”
Successful recipients of SPG_SIG’s include: Roanoke County, City of Roanoke, Augusta County, City of Lynchburg, Campbell County, Rockingham County, Franklin County and Washington County.
