Repeat Drug Offender Sentenced To Five Years

MADISON, WIS. -- John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Andre L. Bauswell, a/k/a Law, 36, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to five years in federal prison for distributing more than two ounces of crack cocaine.  Bauswell pled guilty to this offense on July 31, 2014.

At sentencing, Judge Crabb observed that the recent investigation showed that Bauswell had distributed both heroin and crack cocaine.  In imposing the five-year sentence, Judge Crabb noted that Bauswell was previously convicted of a drug crime in U.S. District Court in the Western District of Wisconsin.  In August 2006, Bauswell was convicted of possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison.

The charges against Bauswell were the result of an investigation conducted by the Dane County Narcotics Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy O’Shea.
