Superior Resident Sentenced For Stealing Mail

Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Brent Olson, 37, Superior, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to a fine of $2,500 for stealing mail. Olson pleaded guilty to this charge on March 8, 2013.

On May 27, 2012, Olson stole and then cashed a rebate check belonging to a customer on his postal route in Superior. As a result of his conviction, Olson was terminated from his employment as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier.

The charges against Olson were the result of an investigation conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.
