David A. Capp, Northern District of Indiana

David Capp, U.S. Attorney  for the Eastern District of TexasDavid Capp was nominated for United States Attorney on December 23, 2009, confirmed by the Senate on April 22, 2010, and sworn in by Chief Judge Philip Simon as the United States Attorney on April 28, 2010. Prior to that, he served as interim United States Attorney on three different occasions. Mr. Capp joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 1985. From 1991- 2007, he served as the First Assistant, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office.

Mr. Capp has extensive experience in investigating and prosecuting public corruption offenses and violent crime. He also served as the office’s terrorism coordinator after 9/11. Mr. Capp earned his B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972, a J.D. degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1977 and is a 1968 graduate of Gary Lew Wallace High School. He was in the private practice of law for 8 years before joining the United States Attorney’s Office.

The U.S. Attorney is the chief federal law enforcement officers in their district, responsible for federal criminal prosecutions and civil cases involving the United States Government.
