TRENTON, N.J. – An Essex County, New Jersey, woman was sentenced to 24 months in prison for her role in a business email compromise (BEC) scheme that affected numerous corporate and individual victims throughout the nation.

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina collected $50,690,774.37 in criminal and civil actions in Fiscal Year 2022. Of this amount, $11,935,768.98 was collected in criminal actions and $38,755,005.39 was collected in civil actions. 

Two Houston residents are set to appear on allegations in an $8.7 million fraud scheme connected to a home health company they jointly owned and operated

John J. Woods, the former President of Southport Capital and manager of Horizon Private Equity, III, LLC, has pleaded guilty to operating a Ponzi scheme that defrauded hundreds of investors out of more than $25 million.

Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven has sentenced Frank Sebastian Visicaro (63, Trinity) to 24 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit money laundering. As part of his sentence, the court also ordered Visicaro to pay restitution in the amount of $1,088,440, the proceeds of funds laundered through bank accounts he controlled. Visicaro had pleaded guilty on December 9, 2021. 

NEWARK, N.J. – A Morris County woman has been charged for her role in a conspiracy to commit health care fraud.

A 45-year-old resident of Zapata is now in custody for defrauding financial institutions as well as state and federal welfare programs, lying to federal authorities and using someone else’s identity

ZIARE DEDRICK, also known as “Zi” and “Hb Zi,” 21, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to 255 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for his participation in a violent Bridgeport street gang, including his involvement the murder of Ty’Quess Moore in December 2019.

Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces that Timothy Paul Longworth (43, Tampa) has pleaded guilty to bank robbery.  Longworth faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
