Status of 11 U.S.C. § 330(e) Payments for Fiscal Year 2024

On November 5, 2024, the Department of Justice's U.S. Trustee Program (USTP) notified the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AOUSC) that trustees will receive additional compensation for cases filed under chapter 7 or converted to chapter 7 in the 2024 fiscal year ending September 30 (FY 2024). These payments are pursuant to the Bankruptcy Administration Improvement Act of 2020 (BAIA). Among other things, BAIA authorized the first increase since 1994 in chapter 7 trustee compensation up to an additional $60 per eligible case to be funded by excess quarterly fees the USTP collects in chapter 11 cases.
