ALIEN SENTENCED FOR ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY
ANDRES PEREZ-BUSTILLO, age 42, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced yesterday in federal court by U. S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle to forty-six (46) months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Lemelle ordered that PEREZ be placed on three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
According to court documents, on October 12, 2011, PEREZ, pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with illegal re-entry by a removed alien. According to the factual basis, on August 24, 2011, PEREZ, an alien who had previously been removed from the United States, was knowingly and unlawfully found in the United States in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana without the Attorney General or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security having expressly consented to his re-application for admission into the United States.
The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Joe La Rocca.
