HAMMOND MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FILING FALSE TAX RETURNS

JOHN M. NDANYI, a resident of Hammond, Louisiana, pleaded guilty as charged today before U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to violating federal law when he filed a false tax return with the Internal Revenue Service and did not report approximately $105,817.00 of income, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the Bill of Information, in April 2009, in the Eastern District of Louisiana, NDANYI, filed a 2008 United States Individual Income Tax Return, Form 1040, through his business, “Peppi’s Services, LLC,” in which he willfully failed to report his income accurately. NDANYI reported that he had no income in 2008, when in fact he made $105,817. Collectively, between tax years 2006 and 2008, NDANYI failed to pay over $85,000 worth of taxes.

NDANYI faces a maximum term of imprisonment of three (3) years, followed by up to one (1) year of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine and may be forced to pay restitution to the IRS. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 24, 2012, at 2:00 p.m.

The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg.
