SLIDELL MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO THEFT AND GUN CHARGES
LOREN GORDON, JR., age 20, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Court Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown on March 15, 2012 to theft from interstate commerce and possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, GORDON stole a firearm and ammunition while he was employed by United Parcel Service (UPS). GORDON was fired by UPS for the theft and subsequently confessed to agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to the crimes. The gun was later stolen from GORDON by an unknown person.
The theft from interstate commerce charge carries a maximum sentence three (3) years, a $250,000.00 fine, and up to one (1) year of federal supervision after the completion of a prison sentence. The possession of the stolen firearm charge carries a maximum sentence ten (10) years, a $250,000.00 fine, and up to three (3) years of federal supervision after the completion of a prison sentence. Sentencing is to be held on June 21, 2012.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the New Orleans Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
