NEW ORLEANS MAN SENTENCED FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE
FEDERAL GUN CONTROL ACT
YOSSEL EUSEBIO VALENCIA-LACAYO, age 23, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle to serve five (5) months in a halfway house and five (5) months in home confinement, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on December 8, 2011, VALENCIA, pled guilty to two counts of an indictment admitting that he made false and fictitious written statements to a licensed firearms dealer during the purchase of a firearm in Slidell, Louisiana in March 2010. VALENCIA also admitted that he delivered five firearms to a contract carrier in Kenner for shipment in foreign commerce to an unlicensed person, without providing written notice to the contract carrier that the shipment contained firearms.
The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations (ICE) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Robert Weir
