RIVER RIDGE MAN SENTENCED FOR MISAPPLICATION OF MONEY OF A
CARRIER IN INTERSTATE COMMERCE
JAMES BRIDGER, age 55, a resident of River Ridge, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Stanwood Duval to two (2) years probation for misapplication of money of a carrier in interstate commerce, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of probation, Judge Duval ordered that BRIDGER pay restitution in the amount of $5,667.00 to the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPBRR) and a fine of $10,000.00.
According to court documents, the NOPBRR was a common carrier, in that it routinely transported railroad cars and freight traveling in interstate and foreign commerce in and around the City and Port of New Orleans. The NOPBRR reimbursed BRIDGER for expenses out of moneys and assets derived from revenues generated from interstate commerce. During his employment with the NOPBRR, BRIDGER charged various personal entertainment expenses such as meals, entertainment, and alcoholic beverages to his NOPBRR credit card and for which BRIDGER received reimbursement from NOPBRR funds.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the FBI and IRS. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney G. Dall Kammer
