JOHN C. WRIGHT, JR., age 30, of Harvey, Louisiana, pled guilty today before U. S. District Court Judge Jane Triche Milazzo to Failing to Register as a Sex Offender, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

WRIGHT was required to complete a Sex Offender Registration Form any time he changed his address after pleading guilty in 2007 to Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Illegal Use of Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material or Performance, in Ohio. WRIGHT moved from Ohio to Louisiana in 2011 and failed to notify law enforcement authorities of his move to Louisiana.

WRIGHT faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. WRIGHT will be sentenced on August 2, 2012.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
