GINA M. SEAWRIGHT, age 26, a resident of Bay
St. Louis, Mississippi, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Court Judge Martin L.C. Feldman, to making, uttering and possessing counterfeit securities, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, SEAWRIGHT made, possessed and used counterfeit bank checks from two financial institutions to purchase vehicles from several dealerships in the Eastern District of Louisiana and elsewhere between December 3, 2011 and January 20, 2012.

Upon sentencing, set for August 15, 2012, SEAWRIGHT faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a $250,0000 fine, three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kenner Police Department, Biloxi Police Department, and Picayune Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Julia K. Evans.
