ROLAND GLOVER, age 40, a resident of Metairie, Louisiana, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman to 87 months imprisonment for possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute and illegally possessing a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Feldman imposed five (5) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

On February 22, 2012, GLOVER pleaded guilty before U. S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman. After conducting surveillance, law enforcement officers determined that GLOVER maintained a residence in the 2600 block of Wychtwood Drive while at the same time using an apartment in the 3500 block of Martinique Avenue to conduct his illegal drug sales. On March 24, 2011, agents obtained a search warrant for GLOVER’s apartment on Martinique Avenue. At the apartment, agents discovered an AK-47 assault rifle loaded with 27 rounds in the master bedroom. Having been previously convicted of manslaughter in 1991, GLOVER was legally precluded from possessing or owning any firearms.

This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO), the Louisiana State Police, and the Kenner Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters of the Violent Crime Unit.
