WARREN WESLEY, age 27, and CORNEILA ROUSSEL, age 29, both of New Orleans, Louisiana, were charged yesterday in a five count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base (crack), possession with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base (crack), possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, felon in possession of a firearm and distribution of cocaine base (crack), announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

If convicted, WESLEY faces a maximum term of imprisonment of life, a maximum fine of $10,000,000.00, and at least ten (10) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. If convicted, ROUSSEL faces a maximum term of imprisonment of forty (40) years, a maximum fine of $5,000,000.00, and at least four (4) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the accused must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the New Orleans Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Abe McGull of the Violent Crime Unit is prosecuting the case.
