TAX PREPARER, LEKEITH ROBINSON, PLEADS GUILTY TO FILING FALSE INCOME TAX RETURNS

LEKEITH ROBINSON, age 30, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Susie Morgan to filing false claims against the United States, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, ROBINSON owned and operated a tax preparation business called Solid Rock II, Inc. Between February 2009 and May 2010, the defendant prepared fraudulent tax returns in the names of others seeking tax refunds totaling approximately $93,804.43. The tax returns were false in that they contained false dependent information and false household income.

ROBINSON faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for November 7, 2012.

The case is being investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney G. Dall Kammer
