JUNIOR REYNALDO HERNANDEZ-RODRIGUEZ SENTENCED FOR FAILURE TO DEPART THE UNITED STATES
JUNIOR REYNALDO HERNANDEZ-RODRIGUEZ, age 33, a citizen of Honduras, was sentenced today in federal court today before U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to 12 months imprisonment, announced U.S. Attorney Dana Boente. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Engelhardt ordered HERNANDEZ be placed on one year of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release. Judge Engelhardt also ordered that HERNANDEZ pay a $3,500 fine to the United States.
According to court documents, on or about April 25, 2008, in the Eastern District of Louisiana, HERNANDEZ, an alien who was subject to a final order of removal, failed and refused to surrender himself to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for removal.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Homeland Security Investigations and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
