Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Billings, on November 23, 2009, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn S. Ostby, the following individual appeared:

DAMOSO RENE OBESO-FELIX made an initial appearance on a complaint alleging distribution of methamphetamine. He is currently detained. If charged with this offense, OBESO-FELIX faces possible penalties of a minimum of 5 years up to 40 years in prison, a $2,000,000 fine and 4 years supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney James E. Seykora is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Big Sky Safe Streets Task Force, which includes the Billings Police Department and the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office.

A complaint is merely a written statement of the essential facts constituting the offense charged.
