The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on December 1, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, ALEXIS ALICIA GONZALEZ, a 24-year-old resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, appeared for sentencing. GONZALEZ was sentenced to a term of:

Prison: 12 months

Special Assessment: $100

Supervised Release: 3 years

GONZALEZ was sentenced in connection with her guilty plea to distribution of cocaine/aiding and abetting.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Vince Carroll, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

Sometime before April 1, 2010, GONZALEZ's boyfriend, N.H., made arrangements to sell cocaine to a person from Great Falls. N.H. made several telephone calls to the person in Great Falls to set up the sale of the cocaine. GONZALEZ knew that N.H. made the telephone calls to Great Falls to arrange the sale of cocaine and knew that the cocaine was going to be transported to Great Falls after the sale. (GONZALEZ was also aware that N.H. had traveled to Great Falls on three prior occasions and sold cocaine to the same person.) The sale was to take place at the mall parking lot in Sandy, Utah.

On April 1, 2010, GONZALEZ transported N.H. to the mall in Sandy, Utah, and N.H. sold approximately 2 ounces (56 grams) of cocaine to the person from Great Falls. Following the sale, the cocaine was, in fact, transported to Great Falls.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that GONZALEZ will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, GONZALEZ does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.
