National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) Receives Award from
the Department of Defense for Extraordinary Support of Employees
Who Serve in the National Guard and Reserve
Johnstown, PA - On March 4, 2008, Major Christopher D. McDevitt
and Mr. Marty Kuhar, on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD),
presented an award to the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC)
for Extraordinary Support of Employees Who Serve in the National
Guard and Reserves. Major McDevitt is with the Pennsylvania National
Guard and Mr. Kuhar is chairman of the local chapter for the DoD's
program for Employer Support of Guard and Reserve.
NDIC has demonstrated a true commitment and support to their
employees who have served in the National Guard and Reserves, according
to Mr. Kuhar. NDIC Director Michael F. Walther himself, a Lt. Colonel
in the U.S. Army Reserve recently returned from a one year tour
of duty in IRAQ and it was only fitting that he received the award
on behalf of the center.
In addition to Director Walther, NDIC has had 18 employees serve
with the National Guard or Reserves in support to the U.S. efforts
in IRAQ and Afghanistan. Director Walther commented that NDIC is
proud of their employees who stand ready and who have served with
the National Guard and Reserves.
Director Walther also added that it should be noted that in further
acts of support, NDIC employees routinely orchestrated care packages
and letters to servicemen and servicewomen that were deployed overseas
from NDIC headquarters in Johnstown, PA.
