The Nevada HIDTA region consists of Clark and Washoe Counties. Las Vegas (Clark County) and Reno (Washoe County) are the two largest metropolitan areas in the HIDTA region. Clark County is crossed by Interstate 15 and U.S. Highways 93 and 95. Major roadways that cross Washoe County include Interstate 80 and U.S. Highways 95 and 395.

The population of Clark County is an estimated 1.9 million, with Las Vegas having a population between 250,000 and 999,999. Henderson and North Las Vegas have populations less than 250,000. McCarran International Airport is in the Las Vegas area.

The population of Washoe County is an estimated 409,000; the largest city is Reno with a population less than 250,000.

Nearby cities include Los Angeles and San Diego, California, and Phoenix, Arizona, with populations over 1,000,000 and Fresno, San Francisco, and Riverside, California, with populations between 250,000 and 999,999.

Nearby international airports include San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Phoenix.

This assessment provides a strategic overview of the illicit drug situation in the Nevada High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), highlighting significant trends and law enforcement concerns relating to the trafficking and abuse of illicit drugs. The report was prepared through detailed analysis of recent law enforcement reporting, information obtained through interviews with law enforcement and public health officials, and available statistical data. The report is designed to provide policymakers, resource planners, and law enforcement officials with a focused discussion of key drug issues and developments facing the HIDTA program area.
