1 Total miscellaneous closings include "requests withdrawn," "duplicate requests," "no return address," "refusal to comply with requirements," and "FOIA and Privacy Act not applicable," etc.
2 A 1993 reorganization abolished the Office of Policy and Communications (OPC) and established the Office of Policy Development (OPD) as a component-level office. The Office of Liaison Services (OLS) (a part of the former OPC) was renamed "Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs" (OPLIA) and is now part of OPD. Therefore, the statistics of the former OLS (now OPLIA) and the former OPC are now included in the statistics of OPD. Statistics for the other parts of the former OPC (i.e., the Office of Information and Privacy (OIP) and the Office of Public Affairs) are reported separately since these offices are now component-level offices. Specifically, the 25 unprocessed requests which were on hand for the former OPC as of December 31, 1992 (and reported in the 1992 report) are brought forward on January 1, 1993 as follows: 19 for OPD; 3 for OIP; and 3 for the Office of Public Affairs.
