Battery Park City Residents
Hi. I just want to go on the record as being in support of the poor
Battery Park City residents who have been terribly affected by the events
of September 11th and who, for some insane reason, are not considered
"victims" for purposes of receiving disaster relief funds. This seems like
a terrible injustice to me. Many of those people are completely without
homes or belongings while others are, at the very least, out the money they
had to spend to find temporary shelter/belongings/transportation, etc.
and/or to have special hazardous material companies sanitize their
homes. Some have to relocate alltogether. Some are stuck breathing in all
kinds of impurities in the air and are suffering physically as a
result. All are probably suffering emotionally/psychologically. How can
they NOT be considered victims?!?! Please rectify this oversight as soon
as possible. Those of us who have donated money to these "victims'" funds
have done so with the understanding that ALL the victims will be helped in
some way -- it is terribly UN-American to just leave some of the victims
out in the cold!!! Respectfully submitted,
