Sept. 11th Survivors
My huband & I were severely burned on Sept. 11th at 1 World Trade
Center. We were caught in the lobby, when the first plane hit. As we
were about to run out of the building, the blast literally pushed us
out. The blast was then followed by a ball of fire which caught us. My husband has 3rd degree burns on his whole back, left arm and hand and 2nd degree burns on his right hand and arm. I have 3rd degree burns on both my shoulders, right calf and waist. 2nd degrees burns on both my right & left arms and hands, left calf and back. Due to our injuries we have limited range of motion, unable to drive and cook. We both are not working due to the injuries. One of our major concerns is that we are not sure how these injuries will affect us in the future once we have recovered.
Our concerns have also been that most of the victim funds have been made available only to those who have lost someone at the World Trade
Center. We are the only ones that work in our household. We are
concerned for our future and the future of our children. We feel that
any funds should not only go to victims that lost a family member, but
it should also go to victims that were severely injured on that day.
Sincerely,
