surviving partner compensation
It is not right to deny survivor benefits to the gay or lesbian partners
of those killed in the Sept. 11 attacks. The fact that someone is gay
does not make the loss of their loved one any less significant or less
worthy of our support. By denying compensation to gays and lesbians who
lost their partners, you are adding a very nasty insult to an already
unbearable loss -- and once again reinforcing the dynamic of
inequality.
