Decision to Exclude Gay Americans Is Shameful
The decision to restrict compensation for partners of gay and lesbian victims
of 9/11 based on individual state laws is shameful. This decision is
offensive to the honor and dignity of the many Americans who lost their lives
in this horrific tragedy. I am grateful that there are gay Americans like
, a victim who with others courageously fought off terrorists on
Flight 93 over Pennsylvania. As for the parties who made this horrible
decision, I am embarrassed to know that they are fellow Americans. I would
hope that they would examine their consciences, but it is fairly obvious from
this decision that they have no conscience.
