Final Ruling
To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to you in regards to the exclusion of gay and lesbian partners
in the final ruling of the victims compensation fund for the attacks on
9/11. I am completely shocked and outraged by this total disregard for gay
and lesbian Americans.
The heroics of gay men such as      and      have been
well documented. Their memory alone deserves more respect than this final
ruling would allow.
Mr. John Ashcroft has specifically singled out gay and lesbian Americans for
discrimination by this ruling. In an attempt to sidestep his responsibility
he has decided to rely upon state law for the determination of the personal
representative. Please remind Mr. Ashcroft that these men and women died as
Americans not as New Yorkers, Floridians, or Californians. Perhaps Mr.
Ashcroft has missed the target of the attack. It was America and it's
people, Americans.
Respectfully,
