9/11 Fund Discriminates Against GLBT Americans
Mr. Feinberg,
I am appalled by your organization's discrimination against gay & lesbian
Americans in distributing funds to victims of 9/11. It is a cop-out for you
to say that you will follow states' laws as to whether or not survivors of
gay & lesbian victims will receive benefits. You already know that very few
states recognize gay & lesbian relationships as valid, and to use this as an
excuse to exclude these citizens is disgusting.
What states recognize the status of illegal aliens? Not that I object to
their benefits - many of them were just as much victims of 9/11. But
including them makes it clear that your office is discriminating against gay
& lesbians.
I am a straight American who owes a debt of gratitude to those gay Americans
who diverted a plane believed to have been headed to the Capitol and lost
their lives rescuing victims at the WTC...and so do you.
