I strongly disagree with the unconscionable decision to block out gay and
lesbian partners of the victims and heroes of the attacks which took place
on September 11, 2001. If everyone from illegal aliens to unborn children
are receiving funds from the September 11 fund, it is unfair, biased and
outrageous decision that the partners of gay and lesbian American citizens
will not receive the same monetary compensation as the other survivors,
spouses and loved ones left behind.
SHAME on those people who decided that the gay and lesbian companions of the
victims and heroes shall not receive equal benefits as other recipients. The
excuse that the fund is following state laws is extremely appalling when
laws regarding illeagal aliens are being expressly overlooked (according to
Kenneth Feinberg on "Meet the Press") . If laws regarding one group of
victims can be disregarded, why not another group?
